Log Home Restoration Projects: 9 Real Jobs in Jackson Hole
Every photo on this page is Log Care’s own work on a log home in Jackson Hole, Teton Valley or Star Valley. No stock photography, no other company’s projects.
What you are looking at is the finish after media blasting, rot repair, chinking and staining, plus the log carpentry most restoration companies subcontract out. If your home needs any of it, the service pages carry the real Teton County pricing before you ever call.

Media Blast and White Refinish
Blasted to bare wood, then refinished in a white stain. A color change this dramatic only holds because the gray, UV-damaged fiber came off first — new finish will not bond to it.
Dark-Stained Log Exterior
A dark penetrating stain across the logs with the glass and trim finished to match. Dark finishes absorb more heat and take more UV, so south and west walls on a home like this need attention every three to five years.
Chinking on Round Logs
Fresh chinking lines with the stain already on, so the chinking bonds to a finished surface. Order matters here — chinking installed before the finish fails early.
Interior Log Carpentry
Interior log work and a custom timber table in a Jackson great room. This is the carpentry most restoration companies subcontract. Log Care self-performs it.
Custom Log Deck
A custom log deck build-out with hand-fit log posts and railing, sized to the view.
Hand-Built Twig Handrail
A twig handrail built from scratch on site. Jackson, Wyoming.
Log Ranch Archway
An old ranch archway replaced with a new log archway, stained to match the house. Jackson, Wyoming.
Bathroom Remodel in a Log Home
A full bathroom remodel inside a log home, with the interior log post left exposed and finished.
What these projects involved
Media blasting
Every color change and every failed finish on this page started with a blast. Recycled crushed glass, corn cob or walnut shell strips the old stain and the gray fiber under it without gouging the logs. Teton County pricing runs $3 to $6 per square foot — the detail is on the log home media blasting page.
Log rot repair
Blasting is also what exposes the rot. We probe the logs before quoting, then price by method — borate treatment, epoxy, a Dutchman patch, a half-log facing or a full log. Ranges run from a $250 patch to $5,500 for a jacked sill log on the log home repair page.
Staining and sealing
Stain goes on bare, sound wood within days of the blast, before UV can gray it again. Cost tracks prep, not paint: $1.40 to $2.90 per square foot for a maintenance coat, $5.50 to $10 for a blast and two coats. See log home staining.
Chinking and caulking
Chinking goes on last so it bonds to a finished, stable surface. A full re-chink runs $12 to $22 per linear foot here, and installed correctly it should last twenty years or more. See chinking and caulking.

Do you have photos of a log home like mine?
Yes, and more than fit on this page — including interiors, chinking close-ups and homes mid-blast. Tell us your log profile, current finish and which walls face south and west, and we will send the projects closest to yours with the assessment.
How often does a finish like this need redoing?
In this valley, south and west walls need attention every three to five years and north and east walls every five to eight. Chinking installed correctly lasts twenty years or more. Recoating while the finish is still sound is the cheapest line in any restoration budget — once it fails, the wall moves up two pricing tiers.
